Open the original Chinese guide ↗Honor of Kings: World has entered public beta. How should you build your party during early-game progression? Below are the recommended starter compositions from Bilibili creator 叫我棉被.
By completing event tasks and advancing the main story, you can obtain several heroes.
Recommended starter teams
Team One: Child of the Primal Flow + Xi Shi
Team Two: Kai + Jialuo
Team-building approach
Heroes are divided into three broad roles: Assault, Vanguard, and Support.
Assault: the main damage dealer, such as the Child of the Primal Flow.
Vanguard: takes damage, deals damage, and increases team damage, such as Kai.
Support: provides buffs, such as Xi Shi, who is granted through the main story.
A two-resonance loadout is the standard starting point. In the early game, the usual recommendation is an Assault + Support or Vanguard + Support pairing.
This avoids overlapping playstyles that could leave one resonance with too little active time to perform its intended role. It also makes the best use of early-game resources.
Child of the Primal Flow + Xi Shi
The Child of the Primal Flow is available as soon as you enter the game. The core gameplay is to weave skills and basic attacks together to build ultimate energy.
Once ultimate energy is full, first use the second-stage empowered basic attack to increase the ultimate's damage, then use the ultimate to deal heavy damage.
Xi Shi can be obtained in Chapter One of the main story and is given for free. She can provide healing and increased damage from off-field, gather enemies across a wide area, and deal respectable area damage. She is one of the most versatile supports in the current version.
Her key talents can also be unlocked early, making her comparatively inexpensive to develop.
Damage sequence
Start with Xi Shi. Use Skill 2 to throw the orb, then use Skill 3 to empower herself. Use Skill 2 again, then follow with Skill 1 to create the formation.
Finally, switch to the Child of the Primal Flow resonance and deal damage while standing inside the formation.
Kai + Jialuo
This pairing offers very high room for error while still having a strong growth ceiling.
Note: Jialuo is obtained through the Battle Pass.
Kai is given through the launch events. He already has strong durability, and after his talents are unlocked he also gains a substantial defense increase.
His core gameplay is to use basic attacks and the counter on Skill 3 to reduce the enemy's Toughness gauge. After the enemy is broken, use the ultimate. This grants Super Armor and increases Kai's damage; then use Skill 2 followed by empowered basic attacks.
In this China-server public-beta build, Jialuo is an exceptionally strong damage dealer.
Her combo rhythm will feel familiar to players of the original Honor of Kings MOBA: first use Skill 3 to expand the domain, then use Skill 1 to gain empowered basic attacks. After that, perform a five-basic-attack string and keep pressure on the enemy.
Damage sequence
The two work together by keeping Kai active to break Toughness. Once the enemy's Toughness gauge is emptied, switch to the Jialuo resonance to deal damage.
