Fight setup

This encounter has two phases, and the boss has two full HP bars.

Characters used in the original guide: Child of the Primal Flow and Xi Shi.

Phase one

The first phase is a solo fight against the Yuan Ge Puppet. It teaches the response to the boss’s red-telegraph attacks: counter them with a skill that inflicts Stun. Keep attacking a stunned enemy; after enough damage has accumulated, it can be stunned a second time for an additional hit. Follow the tutorial by using a Primal Flow Perfect Dodge followed by an Enhanced Basic Attack to stun the boss.

After the stun, deal damage until the boss summons adds. Press Tab to switch to Xi Shi’s Resonance ability, then use E + Q to group them up and clear them.

Once the adds are cleared, the boss reappears. Follow the tutorial and use the T-key Ultimate to counter its red-telegraph attack. Empty its HP bar; it will temporarily leave. Follow the objective marker to begin phase two.

Phase two

Phase two adds more attacks. The boss creates phantom puppets that attack alongside it, so watch for their strikes. Once a phantom is airborne, it quickly dives toward the player. A Perfect Dodge followed by an Enhanced Basic Attack lets you launch into the air and deal damage to the boss.

The boss itself can also be lifted into the air by puppet strings before a fast diving knock-up attack, immediately followed by a second dive. The second dive may be a red-telegraph attack, so be ready to dodge.

Phantom puppets attacking during the second phase

Watch for blade attacks cast nearby during the fight. The purple glow that appears on the floor makes these easier to avoid.

The boss can also transform into Xi Shi and use Xi Shi’s Resonance ability. Avoid the orb pull and the lotus explosion. Its final giant-lotus transformation deals very high damage: leave the blast area early, or time a dodge if you cannot get out in advance.

Yuan Ge Puppet summoning additional enemies

As in phase one, the boss can disappear and summon multiple adds. Press Tab to switch to Xi Shi and clear the group quickly.

Purple ground lines marking a Yuan Ge Puppet mechanic

After the adds are cleared, a mechanic phase begins. Leave the purple-carpet area quickly. Face the boss and watch the purple border on the ground: the reaction window is long, so there is no need to dodge or sprint; simply walk out.

After you clear the mechanic, the boss repeats the attacks above. Continue the basic Perfect Dodge into Enhanced Basic Attack sequence until its final HP bar is depleted to finish the encounter.
